Origin
Nyeri (Mount Kenya), Kenya
Kenya AA refers to the top tier in the country's bean-size classification. Grown on the slopes of Mount Kenya in the high altitudes of Nyeri, from SL28 and SL34 cultivars. Prepared using Kenya's distinctive double-ferment wash.

Nyeri sits on the southwest slope of Mount Kenya. High altitude and the day-night temperature differential allow the bean to develop slowly and densely. Kenya AA is the top size class in the country's bean-grading system.
SL28 and SL34 are two cultivars developed by Scott Laboratories specifically for Kenya. SL28 is drought-resistant; SL34 suits higher-rainfall areas. Together they form the backbone of Kenya's coffee character.
Processing follows Kenya's distinctive double-ferment wash: the cherry is pulped, the bean ferments in a tank for a day, gets washed, rests again in clean water, then receives a final rinse before sun-drying. A two-stage process and a technical choice that preserves the bean's acid structure.
We roast to a Full City profile at our atelier. This profile preserves Nyeri's high-altitude character and adds depth to the cup; a lighter roast risks softening the region's dense structure.
Our recommendation
V60 or paper filter is a good starting point. Aeropress is a balanced alternative for Kenya's full body.
